cut high expectations.

Hear Me Out!

What do we mean by High Expectations?

There's nothing wrong with high expectations, in fact, these can pave a way a student's success, but this all depends on how these expectations are perceived and shown to your children. While high expectations can be helpful, these can also be causes of stress and pressure for them. Not presenting these expectations to your children in a helpful and uplifting way can be very mentally straining for them, so we are here to help you, help them!

Listen.

Parents, listen actively.

Always let your child talk about their struggles regarding school and life in general. Openly communicate with them so they know that you are always there for them.

Mom! Hear Me Out:

A Student's Heart.

After learning about your children's struggles, think about the way you have been treating your child. "Have I been putting too much pressure on them?" Learn this and look for things to improve upon in your parenting. Always try to be the best parent you can be for your children.

Manage expectations.

Manage your expectations.

Support and encourage your children to always do their best in school. Don't disparage the worth of your words to your children. They are a big factor in their decision to either be encouraged or discouraged when it comes to schoolworks.

Negative and Positive effects of High Expectations

Based on an article by David Braucher on www.psychologytoday.com, High Expectations have plenty of effects on students, these can affect a student's performance academically and affect them mentally too.

Positive effects

  • Encourages development
  • Helps forge a path. It lessens the number of overwhelming choices that confront their young minds.

Negative effects

  • Chronic sense of low self esteem
  • Children may assume a false identity in order to appear to conform to their parents’ expectations. These children grow up with a deep sense of shame at their very core.

Mission

Our advocacy campaign aims to provide a safer mental environment for students. This campaign will assist those, who pressure students with their expectations, in understanding more about the causes and risks that their expectations entail.

Vision

We envision a future where we are able to relieve the students of their stress and anxiety and make a change for the better. This will help regain their confidence and self-esteem, allowing them to succeed more in their academics.

The data we collected suggested that:

84.27% of the people...

AGREE to feeling pressured when it comes to academics, with 15.73% DISAGREEING.

71.91% of the people...

AGREE that their actions are based on other peoples expectations, with 28.09% DISAGREEING.
